DVRV Owner Nicholas Soviak, was born in Tecopa (Less than a handful of people alive today can claim that!). Growing up in a remote environment, he learned as a child to repair his own bicycles, then as a teen moved onto cars and from there forward he started working on pretty much anything that had wheels. A mechanic for 25 years who trained under one of GM's top engine designers, he also spent a decade as a welder and metal fabricator, building trailers for industry giant Interstate.
In 2016 Nick met his wife, Radhesyam (or Rad, as everyone calls her) who had been fixing and flipping vehicles and RVs for many years, but had one problem: she didn't know how to weld. A mutual friend suggested Nick to weld an exhaust pipe for her and the rest is history. With Rad's love and RVs and Nicks mechanical know-how, a lightbulb moment happened: If Nick learned RV technician skills, between the 2 of them they would have bumper to bumper, inside and outside knowledge of RV's and the trucks that tow them! So Nick completed his RV Technician apprenticeship and Rad became a service writer, and for the next few years they worked for the biggest and best service centers in Nevada and the country.
David also grew up in Tecopa for some time, and even though his family moved away his heart always remained in the desert. When the opportunity presented itself to return to the area, he didn't hesitate to join the adventure. With decades of experience as an automotive and farm equipment mechanic, tow truck driver and certified welder, he is the third corner of our triangle.
With many years of desert living, Nick, Rad & Dave are well aware of the lack of services in the Death Valley region and surrounding areas. They've sadly experienced the passing of friends who, for one reason or another, became stranded in the desert and lost their lives; or who's systems have failed, leading to hospitalizations - there are countless situations one can encounter in such isolation, which are very dangerous.
Aside from the safety aspect, sometimes being in the desert can just be a downright inconvenience. For those that live in the region year around, it's a fact of life that every little item must be sourced from a distant town or city (lack of delivery services) and finding anyone who can assist with manual jobs (especially technical ones) can be as hard as locating water!
On the other hand, the Nevada, Arizona and California meeting point region is a fantastically unique and magical area, which many people never get to experience. The isolation and lack of services are a deterrent to many, so our team hope that with the added lifeline of a Recreational Vehicle & Auto Service now being available, that many more adventurers will be willing to explore a little further. DVRV's desert RV guide has also been added to this website as a free resource to help make the journey more pleasant.
